The Oconee County Sheriff's Office reported the following incidents:

Arrest: On Nov. 16, deputy Clark Sparrow was dispatched to investigate a dispute in the parking lot of Bell's Shopping Center at Butler's Crossing. Randy Shockney, 49, said he had been shopping at the Family Dollar store when he saw a 19-year-old Watkinsville man. Shockney thinks the man knows something about an assault that occurred two days earlier in Farmington, in which Shockney's son ended up in the hospital. Shockney wanted the young man to give sheriff's investigators a statement regarding the assault, but the man replied, "I don't want any trouble with you." Shockney kept following the man and insisted, "Tell what you done." Shockney became irate when the man began yelling and cursing. The man told Sparrow that Shockney threatened to "beat his a--." Shockney, of Laurel Chase Run, Watkinsville, was arrested for simple assault.

Assault: On Nov. 16, Cpl. J.P. Wasdin was dispatched about 7:15 p.m. to a dispute on Moreland Drive, where a 31-year-old man was accused of hitting a man he thinks tried to break into his home earlier in the week. The 20-year-old Bishop complainant who said he got into an argument with the older man, who punched him in the head with his fist claiming he was the burglar. The complainant's mother said she also saw the older man hit her son. The older man claimed the complainant came to his home uninvited, and he told the complainant to leave because he felt the younger man was responsible for the crime. He denied punching the Bishop man.

Arrest: On Nov. 17, Sgt. Scott Underwood was patrolling on Mars Hill Road about 2:45 a.m. when he spotted a 1997 Ford Lincoln Continental crossing the center line and weaving on the road. When Underwood turned on his blue lights, the Continental failed to stop but continued up the highway where it turned into Rankin Road and stopped at an apartment complex. Underwood approached the driver, who smelled of alcohol and staggered when he tried to walk. Larry Paul Travis, 35, of Rankin Road, said he had stopped drinking about eight hours earlier. Travis, whose blood-alcohol content registered 0.23 on a Breathalyzer test, was charged with DUI, driving while his license was suspended, failing to maintain a lane and failing to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Burglary: On Nov. 17, deputy J. Kraaz was dispatched to Briarwood Baptist Church when an employee arrived about 7:30 a.m. to find the church burglarized. Several office doors were opened, and desks were ransacked. The intruders tried unsuccessfully to remove a projector from the ceiling. A video camera and $80 cash are known to be missing. The intruder entered through a side door. Sheriff's Investigator Stauffacher was assigned to the case.

Fraud: On Nov. 17, a couple on Pimplico Lane, Bishop, reported that FedEx dropped off two boxes at their home that contained four computers they did not order. They learned their business credit card was used in the transaction, but the husband did not authorize it. The card was canceled, and the computers were sent back.

Burglary: On Nov. 17, a Dials Mill Road resident reported a burglary in which the house was ransacked, but nothing of value seemed to be missing.

Burglary: On Nov. 17, a deputy was dispatched to White Oak Drive in Watkinsville, where a woman said she went to her mother's home and found someone had pulled the screen off a window, entered the home and stole a Nintendo Wii gaming system.

Burglary: On Nov. 17, deputy David Burchett was dispatched to a High Shoals Road, Bishop, home where someone entered a camper parked in the yard and stole a refrigerator, rug cleaner and fan.

Complaint: On Nov. 18, a deputy was dispatched to Oconee County Middle School, where some objectionable material was found on a cell phone belonging to a student.

Arrest: On Nov. 18, deputy Ernest Montgomery was dispatched to a Grayson Lane, Bogart, home where a loud argument was heard in the neighborhood. A woman who came outside told Montgomery she had been yelling at her dogs. Montgomery asked to look inside to make sure everything was OK and found a man hiding in the laundry closet. Resident Brian Martin, 53, was wanted on a felony probation violation from Clarke County and was taken into custody.

Arrest: On Nov. 18, a deputy was dispatched to Walmart off Epps Pridge Parkway, where security personnel had detained Karen Michelle Alexander of Bethlehem for suspicion of shoplifting.

Burglary: On Nov. 19, deputy Joe Williams was dispatched to the Georgia Aquatic Center on Bishop Farm Parkway, Watkinsville, where someone stole an Apple computer valued at $1,000, an audio mixer and $60 cash.

Burglary: On Nov. 19, a deputy was dispatched to Oconee Presbyterian Church on Hog Mountain Road about 2:55 p.m. after a suspicious person was seen near the kitchen where a previous burglary had occurred. The deput
